K2 Summit Health Risks
I have received a lot of questions concerning the potential health hazards associated with smoking popular blends like K2 Summit. At this point in time, not enough research is available to conclude whether the active ingredient in K2 Summit (JWH-018) is harmful in the long run. A relatively obscure toxicology report for JWH-018 does exist; however, the source can not be confirmed and the report does not rule out the long term effects.
Many users have reported a wide array of side effects. Most of these side effects can actually be linked to the negative short-term effects that all cannabinoids have. Some of these short term effects may include anxiety, discomfort, etc… and is commonly associated with substances like marijuana as well; therefore, it is still difficult to say whether or not JWH-018 is any different from the natural THC + Cannabinoids found in marijuana.
As of right now, the primary health risk associated with smoking blends like K2 Summit include your generic smoking risks. (Combusting plant matter, carcinogens, etc…)

Hi, I’m an addict. Since I’ve discovered K2 there is no reason for me to relapse and smoke my drug of choice marajuana. I also suffer from Tourrettes Syndrome and Bi-polar. K2 is the best thing that ever happened to me because of the medicinal effects it has on my symptoms caused by my duel-illnesses. However I do have one and only one question which is, can you please tell me why K2 is so expensive in stores?
First off i would like to say sorry for your diseases. K2 is far too expensive to be smoking on a regular basis. My recomendation is using “dark knight 2″. Where i am it’s 3 grams for 15 and it’s pretty potent. It’s a great value compared to k2.
I agree, the price is a bit out of control. It is, without a doubt, more expensive than black market marijuana, and you have no idea what the active chemical is, whether JWH, CP, or HU.

My son smoked k2 and then committed suicide in May, He was not a kid who would have done this! He had a lot going for him. A teen in Iowa smoked K2 on June 2 2010, and then went home and shot himself. This stuff can be deadly. The side effects are unpredictable. It needs to be made Illegal everywhere. If you choose to smoke this crap, think about all the people who will be emotionally and financially stressed for a long time. Pick out your funeral items, burial? Cremation? Go visit the morgue where family might have to identify you! Who do you want to have your earthly treasures? What should your mother do with your clothing? What does she tell your grandparents? Stop! A simple funeral is about $6,000. Where will your loved ones get this money? What does your faith say about death from substance abuse? Help make it illegal in your State.
I am truly sorry for your loss. I never heard about this until thursday night when i had to call the ambulance for my son. He was screaming at the top of his lungs, not knowing where he was and stated he wanted to kill himself. I thought the way he was breathing at one time, he could easily go into respiratory arrest. I usually am the one responding to calls with the ambulance as I am an EMT and trained to act on such craziness, but the roles were reversed. I was a mother going to lose her child. I had to put things into perspective to get my knowledge on board. I did, but I just didnt know how. I never heard about K 2 until the next day when the Drug Investigator called me and wanted to know if he could come over and talk because he never seen a case where “pot” did this to a person and was curious as to what it could have been laced with. Well when he called the person who had it, she told the DEA that it was K2 Sumit and it was legal and theres not much you can do. What a sincere bitch!! I still have my son, but my heart mournes for you and I wonder what we need to do to stop this madness.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt that was the only thing in his system. I know someone that chose spice as a recreation over marijuana as to not risk his career if ever popped with a test. It sounds to me as if he got into toilet bowl “cleaner”, “bath salts”, or my best guess would be one that goes by optical cleaner. My buddy has done pretty much every illegal mainstream drug out there except Meth. This other dude we know had turned him onto bath salts/toilet cleaner previously and no problems. When he gave him the op cleanr he had a horrible experience, I had to go take care of him. He was up for 4 days off a 1/4 gram in 14 hrs. I have seen people in WV where Meth/Ice is more abundant than water and air combined, that have been up 3, 4 days straight or more and looked like a senator and a priest compared to this guy. The synthetic pot isn’t hurting anyone in any way the real thing doesn’t, and as long as it’s from a reputable company you can expect getting the muchies for about an hour and it just goes away and you feel normal. I’d venture to say it’s at least as safe, if not safer that the real thing because it is over so quickly, and even if you smoke a little too much you turn into a zombie on the couch two hours tops, you don’t hallucinate mentally, visually, or audible, you may get a little paranoid but if you do not long after it sets in magically you’re sober quickly, and then you pop up, say damn that sucked, and you learned to smoke slower, less, and you can still get high without the risk of losing your freedom or job.
The bath salts etc though is far too strong to be sold hush hush as cleaners without ANY use instructions. Those who sell it should URGE customers repeatedly to do a LOT of internet research PRIOR to purchasing, because we all know when they buy it, the first thing they will do is quote a line from Scarface, put out at least triple of recommended “cleaning” dose, and either total their car on way home, go to jail because they couldn’t stop staring at the cop beside them in traffic, while at the same time not being able to focus on the broadside of three barns side by side, or make it home and lock up in a closet or “peak” lol out a window for 2 days. Hell if it’s slow tell them to research on their phone, and hint on some websites you’ve “heard” about, if you do this I would almost guarantee you will save at least one life a month. I wouldn’t mind that kharma.
I’ve seen some bad things in my days, but NOTHING like the guy off the op cleanr. The best way that I can explain it for those who have “seen things”, he looked like he had smoked 100 rock to the face in a hit or 2, was having a minor seizure, minor stroke(he couldn’t form even half of a thought, maybe a quarter of one that may have made sense), with a shot of adrenaline to the heart. He was so scared to leave his bed and stop staring out the window he SHIT himself. After he “came too”, he told me he couldn’t believe it. In his early 20’s just a year before, he smoked a LOT of rock (freebse to the older folk) and even after that never thought a paranoia of that magnitude could exist, and still had slight shakes, light sensitivity, audio hallucinations, and a hard time concentrating for almost a week. He was scared he did permanent damage, with something crazy small.
A lot of the other synthetics are great, but this one is absolutely, positively, undoubtedly NOT the one to pick. I will never touch it after what I saw that night, and this is only a small portion of the story. If you want to try that type of “cleaner” typically toilet bowl CLEANER are more fun when cleaning in groups, and bath salts when alone…or maybe vise versa…..I forget, I’ve tried some of the others but after what I saw this is a group I”m content leaving alone.
P.S. If you’re someone who swears by the cleaners that’s great for you, I’m happy anyone finds something that’s for them, but this is my observation/experience with it and I can tell you first hand it’s VERY dangerous. If you listen to someone who swears by it, start with a quarter 1/4 of what they tell you too, it takes VERY little(much less than real thing) that way if you don’t like it you’ll be cool.

Sorry for your loss but K2 or JWH did not kill your son. your son had a drug problem or serious mental health problems. My 17 year old brother died from a drug overdose a few months ago so I can relate on the funeral costs and everything but for me Ive been learning about addiction for years witnessing my brother and some people cant control themselves and they feel hopeless and they kill themselves. The K2 did not take his life he took his own life. Rest in Peace

I did more research it is very dangerous and is looking to be outlawed in most European countries, already in progress in the Netherlands. I am sorry for your loss mam. The chemical was created by a college student and meant purely for experimental use. I unfortunately tried this SHIT before doing any research with my friend, one hit and we thought we were going to die, my heart rate sky rocketed which is very dangerous alone and why so many people die from cardiac arrest each year on cocaine. My son smoked k 2 this thursday and he almost died. He started screaming at the top of his lungs and by the time i reached him, his heart was pumping so hard I could see it in his shirt.. I am so pissed off that this is not illegal. I had my 16 year old son in the ER this past thursday. I thought I was losing him. Fortunealty 5 hours later he was released after observation. I actually tried K2 today, and I had a panic attack. it was the first one I ever had, I was afraid of dieing from a heart attack, and the more i was afraid the faster my heart starting going. This has never happened to me when I used real marijuana. It was my first time trying K2 and I was freaking out. Real stuff would of never done this to me

I believe that TV channels need to start being flooded with commercials warnings to our children about these dangers that lurk around the corner convenience store and head shops…these commercials should be going off like the sirens in an Emergency Alert System.

ive smoked weed for 12 years and currently went out of town to see my brother and do somw projects together. since i could not find weed and the penalty is so tough for smokers and dealers that i decided to give this K2 a try. the first few time i used my pipe to smoke it in little portions and in a way it does give u some of the same feeling as weed. today i decided to roll a blunt of k2, tobacco leaf with k2 in it, and tought to myself that there should be no way that this blend of chemicals should be legal. i could not focus on anything. i ve never had a problem driving when i smoke weed but i got so sick, my heart was racing, i couldn’t catch my breath that i had to pull over for 30 mins until the feeling of death hovering around me left. i was clearly in no condition to drive for hours afterward but i had to try to get back to work. i felt pale and faint. i took the 25 dollar bag and threw it in the trash.
to the parents who lost someone to this unforgiving product my heart goes out to you. i wish they’d get rid of this shit b4 people find out the hard way. and to you ignorant, stupid, immature kids that believe that this shit is just like weed, take it from an everyday smokers this shit is fake and it will never be what nature provided.
to the parents that don’t know how to get there kids or loved ones to stop………..my only suggestion is to make sure that they have weed to smoke or they will settle for the next best thing. at least your kid will stay alive.

Needing to be clean for a test, I switched to K2 for a while. I had done it one other time and it gave me a headache. This time it was much better. I think there are more blends out there. There was some dude at the store who directed me on which ones to buy. It is expensive, but I must say, it was pretty good.
It is unfortunate that people are losing loved ones to this. This really should be a regulated drug, because, make no mistake about it, it has very similar effects to MJ but can be much much stronger. When I’ve had too much MJ, I fall asleep, this kinda makes you paranoid.
I prefer MJ, but if you need to, this stuff works pretty well.

So…I just tried it my first time tonight, it took me completely off guard. I have a high tolerance for drugs so I honestly wasn’t expecting anything, and my friend and I didn’t know much about it so we smoked two whole freaking blunts-BAD IDEA. It wasn’t awful, but I did freak out a bit and I had to calm myself down and try to slow my heart rate. I felt like I was on a freaking shrooms trip or something, it was probably one of the most intense drug experiences I’ve had-and I havent done that much but I’ve done enough to compare. Personally, on the whole committing suicide-Maybe k2 was the instigator but yeah, you’re child obviously had problems before hand, I’m sorry. I have depression-Ive had it since I was and I’ve even had to be hospitilized and it didn’t effect me negatively, not emotionally anyways, so it really was probably some issues with your son. I’m sorry…As far as should it be legal? Umm, personally, I think they just need to make MJ legal because compared to this crap its alot safer. I actually did like K2, dont get me wrong im not badmouthing it, but it sounds like from the report of adverse effects compared to weed effects, weed is alot safer. It’s been researched more and seems to have less of a freakish effect, whereas K2 hasn’t been researched all that much and I can definitly see how people have had seizures or heart attacks from it…So yeah, get rid of k2 sure, but just freaking make weed legal then, its a hell of a lot safer. Freaking dumbass government.

jwh and hu and other synthetics have been proven to cause health issues both physical to the lungs and heart and mental problems, mostly wearing off but sometimes lingering in one known case up to six months. if u think its not harmful, ur an idiot. but used in moderation and not using ALOT when u have no tolerance is normally the problem on the mental issues. health wise, the human body actually absorbs most of what mary j leaves in ur lungs, that 4 times the tar in ur lungs than a cig is bs because its not tar, its natural buildup from plant matter ur body can still absorb wheras the jwh/hu is not. it can coat ur lungs. it may deminish over time, like i said, moderation. some ppl can smoke cigs all their life an not get cancer, some get it without smokn. from the synthetics, some may have health problems after a few uses and some may never experience health problems. i have used it b4 and would again if i wanted but i dont like what it does. its not like mj in any way. and u can die from gettn to high. hu blends can do it. pot cant.
From my own personal experience of smoking some K2 potpourri out of a silver bag that was given to me by a so-called friend that said it would only make me feel mellow, I can tell you that this can affect people differently. You never know the potency. It was the worst high I’ve ever experienced (elevated heart rate, blurred vision, I couldn’t rationalize) It’s been a year and I still feel anxiety and burning sensations in my head and extremities…
To the mother who’s son committed suicide after taking this, my condolensces to you. I’m figuring that your son was in a state of such extreme anxiety when he took this drug, that he thought killing himself was his only option for it to go away. He probably couldn’t stand the feelings he was having and didn’t think it would ever go away.

RESPECT is something that should always be given and what is missing in this country…
First of all I apologize on behalf of responsible smokers who have written some very harsh and childish comments regarding the loss of a child. I don’t know if the story is true, but I’m going to respond as if it is. There are several articles and blogs on the web stating that people have had complications from smoking K2. I read everything from panic attacks to full blown heart attacks. So here where the issue stands today. We (collectively) do not have enough information to confirm that K2 or any other spice causes damage to the human body. We also cannot rule it out. We are all smart enough to know that foreign substances should probably not go into our body. Common sense tells us that. But we do it anyway for the way it makes us feel. We are, in a way, addicted. A chemical is sprayed on K2 and most other spices. I repeat, a chemical is sprayed on K2 and most other spices. So it’s safe to say that it’s not safe to take chemicals into our bodies. In my opinion, which I realize may not count for much, I am for the legalization of all \Spice\ as well as \Marijuana\ but with the stipulation that (just like cigarettes) a warning label accompany it stating all the possible side effects both long term and short and including possible death. We have a right to do what we want to our bodies and to accept the inherit risks associated with what we choose to put in them. We accept those risks for ourselves and our families, but please know that our acceptance is comes from the fact that we are addicts. Being an addict doesn’t mean we have to use a drug every 5 minutes or that we are going to be unable to be a good citizen to the world. It means that we have either a mental or social dependency and due to this we kinda crave the same sensation time and time again. Again, we accept the risks of lung cancer, heart attacks and so on. Some call that stupid. I call it being an addict. Addiction is a disease and it’s not easily solved. I love the way marijuana makes me feel, but its illegal. If it was legal I can almost guarantee you that lives would be both saved and prolonged because the manufacturers of K2 and other spices would go out of business. Let’s face it if we cannot get the safer alternative then as addicts we will find alternatives even if the risks are far greater. Is the answer then to legalize marijuana? In my opinion yes. Our society will obviously use what is safer and a better high…but at this time they are forced as addicts to take bigger risks. If the story above is true then I pay respect to you for your loss. If its not true then I don’t disrespect you at all. At the end of the day you obviously care very much about this topic and the potential risks associated with taking K2/Spice. I close with a final comment – Spice smokers, know the risks and decide for yourself if your willing to accept them. In this case the biggest risks is not understanding what the risks really are.
